Willow paper yarn carpet was designed by the Swedish design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, the carpet saw the light of day originally at Helsinki Design Week 2002. Year 2022 the carpet has gone through product development process in which its final touch was found from natural dye. Unfortunately, we have since decided to discontinue our pilot project utilizing natural willow-based dyes, as the dyeing process proved too unstable to be reliably scaled for industrial production. We nevertheless hold this unique shade in high regard, as do our customers, and are committed to preserving it within our collection. For this reason, we will continue to offer the same colourway, recreated using conventional dyeing methods. We remain hopeful that future developments will enable us to revisit willow-based dyeing and reintroduce this natural process at a later stage.
Inspired by the cadence of music, the rhythmic stripe pattern of Willow brings a sense of movement and harmony to the design. The rug takes its name from its irregularly repeated dark stripes, while the Willow Brown colourway presents a rich yet understated depth.
The rug features a 240 cm pattern repeat, which begins again whenever the rug length exceeds this measurement. All materials and dyes are safe for human health. Woven from plant-based fibres and finished without any animal-derived substances, Willow is entirely vegan.
As paper yarn is a natural material, slight variations in colour and texture may occur between yarn and dye batches. These natural characteristics are accepted as part of the material's authentic character, though consistency remains our objective.
